# Login and account recovery

> Sign in, recover access, and understand the shared session between the website and customer console.

KmerHosting uses the public login page for both the website and the customer console. After a successful login, the browser is redirected to `console.kmerhosting.com`.

## Shared session behavior

The production session cookie is scoped to the KmerHosting parent domain so `kmerhosting.com` and `console.kmerhosting.com` recognize the same authenticated session. If the public homepage shows a profile but the console returns to login, remove stale site cookies for both hosts and sign in again.

## Password recovery

1. Open `kmerhosting.com/forgot-password`.
2. Enter the account email address.
3. Follow the reset message.
4. Choose a new password that is not used for DirectAdmin, VPS root, email, or API keys.

## Safe troubleshooting

* Verify the browser is not blocking cookies for KmerHosting.
* Test in a private window to separate current behavior from stale cookies.
* Confirm the system clock is correct.
* Do not copy session cookies into scripts or support messages.
